Internships. A college tradition. I did the internship thing last summer, sitting in an office pretending to be a grown up. There are two ways this can go – either you are really busy or you are decidedly not. That is, you are either so stressed that you want to die or wishing you had more facebook friends just so that your news feed would update more often. (Confession: I started my first real blog, Love Always Clara, because I was bored at an internship in the summer of 2008. Why anyone thought a 16 year old would have anything to do at a venture capital firm is a mystery.)
Knowing what to wear for summer internships is always a challenge. The bosses tend to imply that because you’re young and vibrant you can dress more casually than the actual employees, but you don’t want to actually take advantage of this because you’re not sure where the real lines are. You’re also probably not getting paid, so being strapped for cash is a constant. And if you’re in DC, like I was, it’s approximately 95 degrees outdoors and 40 degrees indoors and your body is thrown into a state of shock every time you switch climates (pro tip: cardigans are your friend). But… meaningful life experiences! And resumés!
In this light, I present to you ten internship-appropriate skirts. Pair any one of these with a well fitting tanktop and a neutral cardigan and you are good to go.
